Built by a family, for families.
Fein started around our own dinner table — a husband, a wife, parents on both sides, two teenagers, a toddler, and one very anxious group chat. We built the app we wished existed for us, then opened it up to yours.
“Where are you?” is one of the most-asked questions in any family group chat. It’s almost never about location — it’s about reassurance. Are you safe? Are you on your way? Did you make it?
Most location-sharing apps answer the literal question and ignore the human one. They build dashboards instead of conversations, treat people like assets to be tracked, and turn family group chats into surveillance feeds.
We started Fein because we wanted the opposite — and because nothing else worked for our own family. A grandmother who asked her son why his pin “stalked” her. Teenagers who refused to install another tracker. A toddler who didn’t have a phone yet but still had two anxious parents.
So we built an app that gives you a quiet yes — yes, she’s at school; yes, he’s on his way; yes, the baby’s nap finally started — without ever making the person being found feel watched.
That’s it. That’s the whole mission. And every line of code, every screen, every notification still gets reviewed by our own family group chat before it reaches yours.
What we believe.
Dignity first
Surveillance is never the answer. Every interaction in Fein is designed so the people being found feel respected — not tracked.
Plain language
No jargon, no scare copy. We write like a thoughtful relative who wants you to actually understand the choice you’re making.
Long-term over loud
We don’t chase viral growth. We build for families who plan to be families in ten years.
Built at the kitchen table
Every feature is dogfooded by our own parents, partners, and teens before it ships. If it doesn’t earn a place in our family chat, it doesn’t earn one in yours.
